Here we go again...

It's late in the evening on a Sunday night, and I'm having deja vu back to my high school days. You see, I'm trying desperately to complete a paper which I've had all the time in the world to do and which I have not sat down to truly focus on until just now. Don't get me wrong -- the research is done. I finished it weeks ago. It's just a matter of compiling it into a coherant, snooty, academic paper and presentation for tomorrow.

I remember well the nights spent finishing papers in my teens. In particular, I remember finishing my senior paper at my father's desk late on a Sunday night, on the phone sharing research with Techie. (We were both writing about the same topic, so we each did half the research and then shared. Thank God our writing styles are so vastly different, or else we may have been wrongly accused of sharing the same paper.) What should have taken an hour took five as we laughed and chatted about things entirely unrelated to British literature. Why were we writing at the eleventh hour? Well, partly because I write best under pressure. But mostly because we procrastinated with other things. He had soccer, friends, parties, women...I had school newspaper editorial duties, the school play, band, boys, chocolate, TV...

The scene is similar tonight. Here I am, hunched in front of my laptop, TV in the background, pages of notes spread around me. The only things that have changed are the excuses. Work, the Kid, chocolate, and who am I kidding -- a trip to Target yesterday to buy the new Star Wars DVD and a viewing with the Kid of Empire Strikes Back. Oh, and yes, this blog. Ironic, I know. Here I am writing...about not writing.

It's time to abandon the blog and move on to the paper writing for real this time...once My Fair Brady is over...

I am so happy to hear I am not the only person who watches that show. Such a guilty pleasure, but Adrienne cracks my shit up. She is the best ANTM EVER!

Absolutely! I adore her!

And for the record, I actually cried a tiny bit last night. I'm glad they're engaged...but I still would have kicked him for the way he did it!
